House of Pi
Metal + Wood + Leather
The relationship between a rocking chair's legs and its rockers is the ratio of 3.14. I am interested in pushing physical realities to investigate the ways in which our daily lives balance on mathematical equations.
Using differing coefficients of expansions in glass plates, I am interested in the natural and random patterning that occurs from the incompatibilities of glass.
Embroidery + EEG Signals
Embroidery + EMG Signals + Dance
Using muscle and brain sensors, I investigated the relationships between or movements and our sensory responses. Thinking about our brain as a loom, weaving and embedding information through tight, nuanced connections. Thinking about our muscles and their responses to sound and how that relationship would work if the cause and effect of music was reversed.
Blown + Cast Glass
Habitual is a working series, in which the small gestures of a glass cast hand interacts with each other and a blown form. I am interested in what Alva Noe calls our "natural expressions". Those gestures our bodies made in time with our feelings: expressions, which are the physical manifestation of our consciousness.
